Pacific Northwest Provides Stunning Backdrop for TechForum 2017
TechForum 2017 is co-located in Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC. The conference starts in Seattle on October 3 at the Marriott Seattle Airport and continues October 4-5 at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown. The conference will be filled with informative technical sessions, the MarketPlace networking events, and four plant tours.
This year, we have very informative technical sessions in both locations, starting with three diverse presentations in Seattle kicking off with AGA’s Corrosion Engineer Alana Hochstein’s update on the Slip Factor Study. Then, we will hear more about the new joint AASHTO/NSBA specification on metallizing, and what plans the task group has for galvanizing. Finally, don’t miss Julian Lute’s presentation 4 Ways to Turn Employee Passion into Profit! which is a first of its kind at TechForum.
In addition to these great topics in Seattle, we have 11 additional presentations lined up in Vancouver. Wednesday, October 4th will have a strong focus on environmental, health, and safety topics such as Attaining Sensible Environmental Regulations for Galvanizers, and discussion of labeling, due diligence, and reporting. Thursday, October 5 is filled with presentations on a variety of topics including Hydrochloric Acid Recycling, Conductor Bar, Welding Materials Resistant to Zinc, How to Measure Hot-Dip Galvanizing and Duplex Coating System Thickness and more. Check out the full schedule and abstract descriptions on the website.
The dual locations have provided some unique opportunities this year, and AGA has an exciting schedule planned for attendees. Following registration, breakfast, and the first technical session in Seattle, the group will depart to our first two plant tours: Ace Galvanizing and Seattle Galvanizing. After these tours, the group will head to Mt. Vernon, WA, for a sponsored reception and dinner at the Trumpeter Public House. All attendees are welcome and encouraged to join this networking opportunity! After dinner, we will board the AMTRAK Cascades train for a scenic and entertaining ride with a poker tournament and/or casio game to Vancouver for the remainder of the conference.
On Wednesday, we will begin in Vancouver with breakfast and a technical session followed by a hotel luncheon before departing for the plant tours to Ebco Metal Finishing and Silver City Galvanizing. The day will end with the MarketPlace Reception networking event.
The final day of TechForum starts with the MarketPlace breakfast and the remaining technical talks. One of these talks will be by Kent LaRose from Morrison Hershfield, talking about HDG Design Challenges, specifically regarding the Cliffwalk at Capilano Bridge. Following these sessions and lunch, we have a special optional tour scheduled for the Capilano Bridge Park with Kent, so please join us to explore BC’s number one tourist attraction!
Registration is now open, so sign up today and join us in Seattle and Vancouver!
