SteelDay 2010

The American Galvanizers Association, Members To Host SteelDay Events Across North America

Galvanizing

SteelDay is fast approaching and the AGA is spreading the word about the many SteelDay events being held throughout the nation. With 49 galvanizing locations set up to host an AGA sponsored event on September 24, finding one to attend near you should be easy! Associated businesses will be opening their doors for hands-on events including facility tours, seminars, and other fun activities.

The AGA will be hosting a special integrated educational event for SteelDay in Houston, Texas. The AGA will partner with AISC to present 3 hours of education (2 HSW and 1 SD) at the University of Houston beginning at 7:30 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. As of now, the 7:30 tour is full, with a waiting list for possible openings, while the 10:30 session has limited availability. Following education, the first group will be taken to tour a fabrication facility, Schuff Steel, and galvanizer, AZZ Galvanizing-Houston. The second group event begins at 10:30 a.m.; after lunch and education, attendees will be taken to tour local galvanizer, Southwest Galvanizing, and service center, Delta Steel. The event is free to attend and breakfast and lunch are also included in the day’s activities. Visit the AGA SteelDay page to learn more and register to attend our event!

What is SteelDay, and why should I attend an event?

Created by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) in 2009, SteelDay is a great opportunity for the AEC community to interact with the steel industry. The annual event is dedicated to providing accessibility to the latest happenings in the structural steel industry, and includes activities such as facility tours, educational seminars, and jobsite visits scheduled across the United States. SteelDay is a showcase for the structural steel industry’s contribution to building America. As concerns over the economy linger, building professionals want to reduce their risk and control their costs more than ever. Increasingly, they also need to be sensitive to the environmental impacts of their projects. This event will show that building with structural steel is a very effective strategy toward meeting these goals and ensuring a successful project is delivered on time and on budget.
