John has an extensive background in steel plate fabrication as well as the process of galvanizing. He was President of American Galvanizing Company from 1986-2015 until it was acquired by Valmont. He is now the General Manager of Valmont American Galvanizing and Director of Business Development for Valmont Coatings.
John is a graduate of Michigan State University and is very well respected in the galvanizing industry. He is currently on the Board of Directors and has served as AGA President twice; from 1994-1996 and again from 2015-2017. He is also a former Chairman of the Board of the Independent Galvanizers Co-operative (IGC), a group he helped co-found in 2006. John has served on all three AGA standing committees; Market Development, Member Services, and Technical Services where he was Chairman for over fifteen years. He has achieved the AGA designation of Master Galvanizer. With such strong industry wide relationships supported by the strength of the acquisition by Valmont, John ensures that Valmont American Galvanizing will join with the other Valmont Coatings companies to continue to set standards for the galvanizing industry with regards to technology, quality, and customer service.
John was the recipient of the AGA's prestigious Thomas M. Gregory Award in 2017.
