Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel vs. Zinc-Rich Paint

Hot-Dip Galvanizing vs. Zinc-Rich Paint

Zinc-rich paint, sometimes referred to by the misnomer "cold galvanizing," is sometimes confused with hot-dip galvanizing.  This side-by-side comparison examines the differences between the two coatings as it relates to service life, coating thickness and uniformity, life-cycle cost, application, and many more.   Zinc-rich paint, although commonly used for touch-up and repair on galvanized parts, is not equal to hot-dip galvanizing.
