introduction

The hot-dip galvanized coating is comprised of over 98% zinc metal. Zinc is a naturally occurring element that is commonly found in all living organisms. The environmental concerns related to using zinc metal to coat steel are minimal. The following are links to sections from the International Zinc Association's, "Zinc and Sustainable Development."
