Going for the Green
No, this article is not about selecting a nine- or eight-iron for the approach shot to the green of the seventh hole at Augusta.  And no, it is not about saving the green of many Ben Franklins, although the choice to use hot-dip galvanized steel usually makes terrific economic sense on an initial cost basis and certainly on a life-cycle cost basis.  This article is about empirical data defining the greenness of hot-dip galvanizing.

While some people may be fooled by unsubstantiated manufacturer claims about how green their products are, engineers and architects typically require specific data to compare one product to another.  In fact, the growing need for specific comparison data has established the life-cycle assessment (LCA) as the new standard for judging  'greenness".   > MORE

Q:  My bolt manufacturer requested I galvanize my hardware in accordance with ASTM F 2329, yet my galvanizer uses ASTM A 153 for hardware.  What is the difference between these specifications?

A: ASTM A 153 and ASTM F 2329 are specifications for galvanizing hardware centrifuged after galvanizing.  F 2329 is similar to A 153 in many respects, and mentions in several sections the user shall galvanize in accordance with A 153 unless otherwise noted.

Major Differences between the Two Specifications
There are major differences between the two specifications in the categories of coating measurement, overtapping information, hydrogen embrittlement, sampling, and rejection and retesting.
