One sign of a healthy industry is the addition of capacity and as such the general galvanizing industry is not only healthy but very optimistic demand will continue to grow at the 3% average we have seen for the past 15 years.  In response to the addition of brand new plants, rebuilding of plants at existing locations, and larger kettle additions, galvanizers should be looking at expanding marketing activities to ensure there is no disruption in volume specific to their own plant(s).

Here is a short list of new capacity brought online within the past three years or about to be:

  • Daam Galvanizing – Calgary - new plant in 2016
  • Seattle Galv. - larger kettle/new plant (2014) to replace now idled facility [45’ x 6’ x 9’]
  • V&S Columbus – (larger kettle/new plant to replace now idled facility) [48’ x 6’4” x 11’]
  • Attala Galvanizing – Kosciusko, MS – new facility [42’ x 5’ x 8’]
  • Distran Galvanizing - Tangipahoa Parish, LA – new facility [58’ x 10’ x 8’]
  • Great States Galvanizing – Zachary, LA – new facility [58’ x 7’ x 8’]
  • Trinity Galvanizing – Big Spring, TX – new facility   [42 x 6 x 8]
  • Monnig Industries Indiana Galvanizing – new spinner facility [25’ x 5’ x 7’]
  • Tennessee Galvanizing – new spinner facility [14’ x 4’ x 6’]
  • South Atlantic, Miami, FL new plant [45’ x 5’3” x 9’6”]
  • AZZ Goodyear, AZ, additional kettle [36’ x 6’ x 9’]
  • V&S Memphis – new plant [48’ x 6’4” x 11’]
  • Jyoti Americas, Conroe, TX [41’ x 5’3” x 9’10”]
  • Tower Support Services, McKenzie, TN, spinner operation [10’ x 5’ x 5’]

These plants mentioned above total approximately an additional 27,225 ft3 of kettle capacity in the 2012 – 2014 timeframe.

In addition to these known locations, there are plans for a new large kettle operation in Houston, a medium size kettle in Louisiana, a spinning operation in Tennessee, and a plant of undetermined size in the southeastern U.S.
